The school holidays are over, the nights are “fair drawing in” and, as “it’s aye been”, it’s the time of year the Band are back to two rehearsals a week – Tuesdays and Thursday 7.15pm to 9.15pm.

If you are new to the area or an old band member wanting to come back now is the ideal time to join us in the Band Hall on the High Street – just look in, you will be made most welcome.

Our Musical Director, Peter Holmes is building up our programme very nicely for our Autumn Concert on 14th September – hope you can join us for what’s promising to be an entertaining concert as we bring some of our “Heros” back to life through their music.  Our Youth Band under the baton of Davy Robb will also be playing at the concert – please give them your support.  Tickets are available from Keystore (Robb’s Newsagent), from any Band member or at the door – £6 for adults and £4 for children under 12.

A slight change this year is our annual Grand Prize Raffle which will be drawn at the end of the concert. There are 3 cash prizes £150, £75 & £50 plus a minimum of 7 other non-cash prizes. Please get your tickets from any Band member or on the night. We will also be selling tickets on the High Street as we play on Saturday mornings between now and the concert – weather permitting.  Good Luck – you could be a winner.

As well as the Senior Band now back rehearsing twice a week, our Youth Band continues to meet on Tuesday nights – from 6 pm until 7pm under the guidance of Davy Robb. Another group of youngsters meet on Friday afternoons from 3 pm under the control of Caitlin Reilly.  If you would like to join either of these groups or would welcome one to one lessons, all free of charge, then please come along to the Band Hall or email the Band Secretary on secretary.pbsb@gmail.com . An instrument can also be supplied free of charge should you require one.

We take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported our recent Coffee Morning – your support is very much appreciated.  Sincere thanks also to Elizabeth White and her son, David for carrying on the family tradition of giving the Band much needed relief and sustenance in between the Crowning Ceremony on Beltane Saturday and the Grand Parade.  Thank you all.
